Adesina Offers to Support Tinubu’s Economic Agenda After AfDB Tenure
Former African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina says he is ready to support Nigeria’s economic development in any capacity after meeting President Bola Tinubu in Abuja. Adesina said the AfDB provided about $7 billion in financing to Nigeria between 2015 and 2025. He added that the bank’s total financing to the country since 1971 stands at $11.1 billion. He praised the administration’s fuel-subsidy removal and foreign-exchange reforms, describing them as difficult but necessary. Adesina said the next step should be structural transformation that delivers growth, jobs and improved living standards for Nigerians. “I’m not looking for a job,” he said. “I’m just here to help. It’s my country.”
