Don’t Bury Your Talent: A Business and Spiritual Lesson from Matthew 25

The parable of the talents in Matthew 25 shows more than a spiritual truth. It illustrates key business principles: stewardship, productivity, and multiplication. A talent then was a huge sum—worth years of wages today. The servant who buried his talent did so out of fear and comparison. His master called him wicked and lazy because inaction prevented growth and blocked blessings for the wider community. This teaches us that faithfulness with little opens the door to greater responsibility. Wise investment of our resources creates value, opportunities, and increase. If we fail to manage what we have now, we forfeit the chance for more. May we embrace faithful stewardship in every assignment entrusted to us, knowing that increase follows wise action and multiplication.

The connection between a biblical parable and modern concepts of stewardship and productivity can feel a bit forced.
