NDLEA Seizes 2.1 Tonnes of Cannabis Hidden in Fuel Tanker in Ondo
NDLEA operatives have intercepted a 20,000-litre fuel tanker allegedly used to transport 2,145 kilogrammes of cannabis on the Akoko-Lokoja Expressway in Ondo State. The tanker, which was reportedly headed to Jos, allegedly refused to stop at a checkpoint. Its driver later abandoned the vehicle at a church premises in Ugbe Akoko and fled into nearby bushes. During a search, officers reportedly found 165 bags of cannabis concealed in a specially constructed compartment at the rear of the tanker, alongside its fuel cargo. NDLEA says investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest others linked to the operation.
