Court Schedules June 30 Ruling on Sowore’s Bail Application

Court Schedules June 30 Ruling on Sowore’s Bail Application

Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed June 30 to rule on Omoyele Sowore’s bail application. Sowore is being prosecuted by the Department of State Services for alleged criminal defamation and cybercrime after he called President Bola Tinubu a criminal on social media. His bail was revoked on June 16 and a bench warrant issued when he missed a hearing. He appeared in court on June 22 and was remanded to Kuje Prison. At the resumed hearing, his lawyer urged the court to grant bail again and pledged to ensure his attendance for the ruling. The prosecution argued the application lacked truthful facts. Justice Umar adjourned for the decision on June 30.

Keep track of any court updates online and note official statements from both the judiciary and DSS ahead of June 30.
