Tinubu Says Nigerians Can Criticise Him Without Fear of Reprisals

President Bola Tinubu says Nigerians are free to criticise or insult him without fear of harassment, describing tolerance of dissent as central to democratic and press freedoms. Speaking through Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume at the Daily Times centenary celebration in Abuja, Tinubu said people can “insult and attack the president” and still sleep without “midnight troubles.” He said his administration’s reforms are meant to tackle long-standing structural problems, strengthen public institutions, improve infrastructure, attract investment and create more opportunities for young Nigerians.
