Ekiti–Anambra Debate Gains Attention as APC Sets 900,000-Vote Target
A social-media debate about Ekiti’s development and its business environment has drawn attention after a user known as Mayor of Ekiti compared the state with Anambra. He cited a ranking that placed Ekiti among the top six states for investment and business, while Anambra was listed much lower. Some Ekiti indigenes disagreed with the comparison, and other users questioned the ranking and accused him of stirring division. Critics also asked why he had not moved his businesses from Abuja and Lagos to Ekiti if he believed the state offered a better environment. The debate followed criticism of Ekiti’s development after the APC campaign. It also prompted discussion of the ranking, including the placement of Borno ahead of several other states. At an APC rally in Ado-Ekiti, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, party officials and Governor Biodun Oyebanji attended. The party set a target of 800,000 to 900,000 votes for President Tinubu in the next election. Tinubu received 201,495 votes in Ekiti in 2023.
