Group Urges Police to Declare Two Suspects Wanted Over Ajiran Killings
The Centre for Citizens Right Protection has asked the Nigeria Police Force to declare Bashir Fakorede and Babajide Akinloye wanted over their alleged involvement in the Ajiran community killings in Lagos State. At a press briefing in Lagos, the group also called on the Inspector-General of Police to set up an independent panel to review the investigation. It alleged that key aspects of the case had not been properly examined. The group questioned why Alhaji Tajudeen Akanbi is being prosecuted while other people allegedly linked to the matter have not faced similar scrutiny. It said the police must apply the law equally and investigate every credible allegation without bias. The CCRP said it may protest at Force Headquarters within 48 hours if no action is taken. The police and the individuals named had not publicly responded to the claims at the time of the report.
