Troops Seize Rifle Hidden in Millet Bag, Arrest Three Suspected Gun Runners in Zamfara
Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested three suspected gun runners after intercepting an AK-103 rifle concealed in a bag of millet along the Kauran Namoda–Shinkafi Road in Zamfara State. The operation, carried out by troops of 1 Brigade under Operation FANSAN YAMMA on August 23, recovered the rifle, a magazine and 30 rounds of ammunition from a Golf Wagon. The Army said the weapon was allegedly being taken to Yar-Galadima in Maru LGA. The suspects and vehicle are in custody as investigations continue. In a separate operation near Anka, troops rescued six civilians after suspected terrorists attacked their vehicle and attempted to abduct them. Three of the victims sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
