Adamawa Police Rescue 6-Year-Old Girl, Arrest 18-Year-Old Over Alleged Abduction Attempt

The Adamawa State Police Command says it rescued a six-year-old girl after an alleged attempted abduction in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area. Police said patrol officers acted on information on August 18, 2026, and intercepted an 18-year-old suspect accused of trying to forcefully take the child. The girl was rescued unharmed and returned to her parents. The command said an investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be arraigned after it is concluded. It also urged parents, guardians and residents to stay alert and report suspicious activity involving children to the nearest police station.
