A Strong Ruling Party Should Produce a Strong Opposition

I believe the quality of a country's opposition often reflects the quality of its ruling party. In Nigeria and elsewhere, those in power should govern for national development and economic prosperity. The opposition should also prove it can offer credible alternatives and hold leaders accountable. Political competition should not come at the cost of ordinary people’s wellbeing. Citizens should not have to suffer because politicians are fighting for power. I am frustrated by the turmoil politics has created in my mind. We deserve leadership and opposition that put people first.
