Navy Arrests Wanted Bayelsa Militant Suspect, Recovers AK-47
Nigerian Navy personnel at a Forward Operating Base, working with local security operatives, have arrested a wanted militant suspect in Bayelsa State. The Navy said the operation followed intelligence on the suspect, who had allegedly been on the run since troops raided a camp in Fununu Community on August 6. An AK-47 rifle, three loaded magazines and a mobile phone were recovered. The Commanding Officer said the suspect and an alleged second-in-command confessed during interrogation to involvement in attacks, kidnappings and killings in nearby communities. Other suspects reportedly fled into surrounding bushes, while the arrested suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
