IED Blast Rocks Mushin Shoe Materials Market, One Injured
On Monday an improvised explosive device detonated under a parked vehicle in the Shoe Materials Market area of Mushin, Lagos, sparking panic among traders and residents. Security agents, including the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, quickly cordoned off the scene and carried out a thorough search. No additional devices were found during the sweep. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police said the device exploded when the vehicle engine was started. One person was injured and taken to hospital, where they remain in stable condition. Local community leaders alerted authorities after spotting a suspicious vehicle near the market. Investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible and recover fragments of the device for forensic examination.
