NDC Withdraws Recognition of Diaspora Chapters Over Court Ruling
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has withdrawn recognition of its foreign-based chapters, citing a court ruling that Nigerian political parties cannot establish or operate chapters outside the country. The party said it acted in response to a 2025 FCT High Court judgment which declared diaspora chapters of Nigerian political parties illegal and unknown to Nigerian law. It said the judgment has been referred to its Legal Department for further guidance. The NDC thanked its diaspora supporters for their contributions and urged them to continue meeting and engaging through lawful channels. It also said it is working to harmonise multiple diaspora groups where they exist.
