Court Orders Arrest of Four Over Alleged ₦150m Opay Fraud
A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of four men accused of defrauding Opay Digital Services Ltd of more than ₦150 million. The defendants allegedly failed to appear for their arraignment despite an earlier adjournment. The court directed the Inspector-General of Police to produce them on the next hearing date. Prosecutors allege that the men impersonated Opay agents between November and December 2025 in Bida, Niger State. They are accused of using victims’ identity card and SIM information to unlawfully enter data into Opay’s system and obtain financial benefits. The court also ordered that the Nigerian Bar Association and other relevant legal bodies be notified about the conduct of the defendants’ counsel, who was absent from the hearing.
