On June 27, soldiers of Sector 2, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA killed two suspected Lakurawa fighters and seized weapons in the Sabarumawa area of Kebbi State. Acting on credible intelligence of an impending attack on Sabarumawa community, troops from the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion 7 set up a tactical ambush along the group’s suspected route. They engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle as they approached. Two insurgents were neutralised and the remainder fled into nearby forest. Officers recovered AK-47 rifles, magazines, 143 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle from the scene.
