Pentagon Watchdog Reports Major Damage to US Bases During Iran War
A Pentagon inspector general report says Iranian strikes damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings and structures at US military bases across Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Jordan during the first months of the war. The report also cites shortages in key US munitions and operational disruptions. US forces reportedly moved personnel, equipment and storage sites, while some medical evacuations shifted from air to ground transport. Damage to naval facilities in Bahrain reportedly extended supply cycles in the region. US diplomatic facilities were also affected. The report estimates about $184 million in damage to diplomatic sites, with Iraq accounting for roughly $157 million. Thousands of diplomatic personnel were moved out of the region as several US posts entered restricted operations.
