Tinubu’s Aide Dismisses Claims President Could Be Arrested During UN General Assembly Visit

Presidential aide Ademola Oshodi has dismissed speculation that the United States could arrest President Bola Tinubu if he attends the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Speaking on a television programme, Oshodi said there was no legal or diplomatic impediment to the President visiting the US. He described the claim as politically motivated and linked it to election-season rhetoric. Oshodi argued that the US would not arrest a sitting head of state, citing past interactions involving foreign leaders who had difficult relations with Washington. The Presidency has confirmed that Tinubu will not attend the 81st UN General Assembly in person.
