DSS Arraigns Man Over Alleged ₦800m SunTrust Bank Hack
The DSS has arraigned a 47-year-old man, Ugochukwu Eze, also known as Amazon, over allegations that he and others at large hacked SunTrust Bank’s server and diverted more than ₦800 million. Prosecutors told a Federal High Court in Lagos that the alleged cyberattack occurred between 2023 and 2026. Eze is also accused of concealing and transferring funds traced to cyberattacks on financial institutions, as well as gaining unauthorised access to critical national financial infrastructure. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court adjourned the case to August 24 to hear his bail application and ordered that he be remanded in Nigerian Correctional Service custody pending the hearing.
