Enugu Customer Petitions Police and Regulators Over Alleged LAPO Loan Charges and Harassment
An Enugu businessman has petitioned the police, the FCCPC and the CBN over alleged loan charges and harassment involving LAPO Microfinance Bank’s 9th Mile branch. He claims the bank deducted ₦126,500 in fees and charged flat-rate interest that increased the cost of his loan. He also alleges that staff detained his wife and pressured her to transfer ₦155,000 during a visit to his business premises in September 2026. The petitioner is seeking refunds, an investigation and other remedies. He says he submitted evidence, including payment records and copies of petitions. These claims have not been independently verified. The report says the police and FCCPC had not issued statements, and LAPO had not responded to the allegations at the time of publication.
