PDP Backs G-100 Opposition Alliance Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Peoples Democratic Party has endorsed the G-100 initiative, a proposed coalition of opposition figures seeking to build a united front against the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections. The party said it joined the group’s first meeting on August 31, 2026, citing economic hardship and insecurity as reasons opposition parties should cooperate. It said the alliance could offer Nigerians a stronger alternative to the current administration. PDP factional National Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki said the party’s participation depends on a transparent, equal and data-driven process. The proposed alliance has yet to disclose its structure, participating parties or how it would select a common presidential candidate.
