11 Killed as Armed Attackers Raid Ayilamo Community in Benue
Eleven people, including four police officers and seven civilians, were killed after suspected armed herders attacked Ayilamo community in Tombo Council Ward, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State. The attack reportedly began on Thursday night and continued into the early hours of Friday. Residents said the attackers came through Alufu Road from neighbouring Taraba State, fired at residents and set houses ablaze. The Benue State Police Command confirmed the deaths, saying four officers and seven civilians were killed. Community sources said Mobile Police personnel engaged the attackers for several hours before they withdrew. The initial civilian death toll reported by residents was higher than the figure confirmed by police.
