Hackers Access Personal Data of 8.8 Million People in Denmark Registry Breach
Hackers gained unauthorised access to Denmark’s national registry, exposing the names, addresses and national identification numbers of about 8.8 million registered people. Denmark has a population of about six million, but its registry holds records of roughly 11 million people, including deceased people and those who have left the country. Authorities said the attackers gained entry through a Danish company that had lawful access to the registry. An investigation is underway to identify the hackers and determine the full scale of the breach.
