Eight Service Members and Contractors Die in B-52 Bomber Crash in California
Eight crew members died when a U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California. The aircraft had been on a routine test flight supporting a modernization program for the aging fleet. Among the victims were pilots, weapons systems officers and flight test engineers. Their loved ones remember them as devoted professionals who celebrated wedding anniversaries, taught their children new skills and were eagerly anticipating the next mission. Yet these same airmen are also linked to a bombing on a girls’ school in Minab, Iran, that reportedly killed nearly 200 young students.
