INEC Final List Omits Pantami, Adebutu; Clears Chinda for 2027 Governorship Polls
INEC has published its final list of candidates for the 2027 governorship elections, omitting Isa Pantami and Ladi Adebutu, who were expected to fly the PDP flag in Gombe and Ogun states. The commission did not state why their names were excluded. The omissions have, however, been linked to a Supreme Court ruling that requires governorship candidates to have appeared in their party’s membership register before the party primary. Meanwhile, Kingsley Chinda was cleared as an APC governorship candidate in Rivers State. Chinda, a former PDP member and ally of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, joined the APC shortly before its governorship primary.
