FG Urges Court to Reject Kanu’s No-Case Plea Over Secession Threat
The Federal Government told the Abuja High Court that Nnamdi Kanu’s threat to break up Nigeria and form Biafra was deliberate. They cited his broadcast on Biafra Radio Station as causing fear and incitement to violence. FG’s counsel, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, urged Justice Omotosho to dismiss Kanu’s no-case application on seven-count terrorism charges. He argued that Kanu directed attacks on security agents, leading to over 170 deaths. Kanu’s lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, countered that no witness linked Kanu’s statements to any violent act. He also protested the prolonged solitary confinement. Justice Omotosho will deliver his ruling on October 10.
