Zambian Residents Kill Crocodile Suspected in Deaths of Two Relatives
Residents of Sokoto Village in Zambia's Sioma District killed a crocodile they believed was linked to the deaths of two young women from the same family. Monde Pelekelo, 22, and Sikwezi Pelekelo, 20, were attacked on separate occasions while fetching water from the Zambezi River. Their deaths occurred four days apart. Four residents reportedly searched the river by canoe after sunset and killed a crocodile with a spear. However, there is no evidence confirming that the animal was responsible for either attack. Markings found on its body also prompted local speculation, though their meaning remains unverified.
