APC Governors Seek to Limit Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign Appearances

APC governors are expected to meet President Bola Tinubu this week to seek approval for a 2027 campaign plan that would put governors and party leaders at the forefront of rallies and grassroots mobilisation. Under the proposed arrangement, Tinubu would make selective appearances at politically important events rather than travel extensively across the country. Governors, ministers and party officials would handle much of the day-to-day campaign activity across the six geopolitical zones. Sources said the proposal is driven by concerns about the President’s support in parts of the North, South-South and South-East, as well as the political risks of frequent large rallies. Tinubu would still be expected to feature prominently at major strategic events, including the campaign finale, if he approves the plan.
