The NDLEA says it arrested a 48-year-old Lagos marble trader at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport while he was allegedly attempting to travel to New Delhi, India, with 1.55kg of cocaine concealed in his luggage. The agency said the suspect claimed he sold his assets to raise ₦23 million to buy the consignment, which he expected to sell for about ₦100 million in India. In separate Lagos operations, officers recovered 377,600 bottles of codeine syrup valued at over ₦2.6 billion from a warehouse in Okota, and 324kg of Colorado, a synthetic cannabis strain, valued at ₦972 million from a residence in Ipaja. Two vehicles were also seized during the Ipaja operation. The agency also reported arrests and drug seizures in Kano, Kwara, Oyo, Edo, Plateau and Delta states. Among those arrested were a 70-year-old man and another suspect found with thousands of pentazocine and tramadol injections along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. NDLEA said the suspects will face prosecution as its operations against drug trafficking continue nationwide.
