Only Seven States and FCT Fully Implement Contributory Pension Scheme — PenCom

The National Pension Commission says only Lagos, Kaduna, Edo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo and Jigawa, alongside the FCT, have fully implemented the Contributory Pension Scheme and Contributory Defined Benefits Scheme. Thirteen states are partially implementing the schemes, while 10 have pension laws that remain inactive. Another six states are still at the bill stage. PenCom said 18 states and the FCT have established Pension Bureaux to manage the schemes. The commission continues to urge states to adopt effective pension systems that protect workers’ retirement benefits.
