Abiodun Calls for Faster, Fairer Justice as Ogun Judiciary Begins Legal Year
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has urged judicial officers to uphold justice, fairness, accountability and the rule of law as the state judiciary begins its 2026/2027 legal year. Speaking at a thanksgiving service in Abeokuta, Abiodun said accessible justice helps citizens resolve grievances peacefully and strengthens public confidence in democratic institutions. He said the executive, legislature and judiciary must each perform their constitutional roles responsibly. The governor reiterated the state’s push for an Abeokuta Division of the Court of Appeal, saying it would bring appellate justice closer to Ogun residents and reduce the burden of travelling to Ibadan. He also called on judges to protect citizens’ rights and handle cases impartially. A cleric at the service urged judges and legal practitioners to put truth, justice and concern for vulnerable people at the centre of their decisions, while avoiding unnecessary delays caused by technicalities.
