Police Arrest 78 Suspects, Recover Seven Firearms and 318 Rounds in Multi-State Operations
The Nigeria Police Force says it arrested 78 suspects, neutralised one suspected armed robber, rescued two victims and recovered seven firearms with more than 318 rounds of ammunition during operations across nine states between September 5 and 11. The largest raid was recorded in the FCT, where police arrested 54 suspects at identified black spots and uncompleted buildings. Officers also recovered substances suspected to be cannabis and other illicit drugs. In Ebonyi, police said abductors abandoned Reverend Ede Sunday John Tobechukwu and his Toyota Avalon while fleeing operatives. In Delta, officers recovered a three-year-old girl allegedly stolen in 2023 and arrested a couple in connection with the case. Other arrests and recoveries were reported in Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Jigawa, Plateau and Zamfara. The police said the cases have been transferred to the relevant State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and prosecution.
