Gongola Elders in Adamawa Reject APC’s ‘Undemocratic’ Guber Candidate Imposition
The Elders of the Gongola Peoples in Adamawa State have strongly opposed attempts within the APC to impose a governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking in Abuja, Markus Gundiri said the group supports President Tinubu’s administration but rejects any undemocratic moves at the state level. They warned that sidelining internal party democracy could undermine the party’s prospects. The elders demanded a transparent, free and fair primary election. They insisted that all aspirants must compete on a level playing field without interference by powerful interests. They cautioned that ignoring the collective will of party stakeholders in the former Gongola region would spark resistance from local communities. They urged APC leaders to uphold equity and fairness as preparations for 2027 intensify.
