If Tinubu Loses in 2027, Who Exactly Will Defeat Him?
Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed says President Bola Tinubu would lose a credible, free and fair 2027 election. My question is simple: who, exactly, will be winning instead? Nigerian presidential elections are not referendums on whether voters like or dislike the incumbent. Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Donald Duke and other contenders cannot automatically combine their separate votes into one anti-Tinubu ballot. As PRP national chairman, Baba-Ahmed should be clear about the candidate or coalition he believes can defeat Tinubu. If the argument is that power should return to the North after four years in the South, that political ambition should be stated openly rather than presented as the settled view of all Northern Nigerians. The opposition needs more than the slogan, “Tinubu must go.” It must identify a credible alternative, build a coalition and persuade Nigerians to vote for it.
