Minna Motorists Protest Prolonged CNG Shortage at NNPC Mega Station
Motorists in Minna, Niger State, staged a peaceful protest at the NNPC Mega Station on the Western Bypass over the prolonged unavailability of compressed natural gas (CNG). The protesters said the station has reportedly been out of service for about three months, leaving drivers who spent heavily to convert their vehicles to CNG unable to buy gas. Some said the shortage has forced them to return to more expensive fuel options. One motorist said he spent more than ₦1 million on a CNG conversion but has been unable to access gas in Minna. The protesters urged the station management and relevant authorities to restore supply urgently, warning that more motorists and commercial tricycle operators could join another protest. Station attendants declined to comment on behalf of management, while the station manager could not be reached at the time of the report.
