Nepal Woman Rescued Alive After 10 Days Trapped Beneath Flood Debris

Rescuers in Nepal have pulled 64-year-old Chandrika Shrestha alive from her mud-buried home in Nuwakot district, 10 days after devastating floods struck the region. She was airlifted to Kathmandu for medical treatment. The floods, triggered by a glacial and rock collapse on 26 August, damaged roads, bridges and hydropower facilities. Rescue teams are still searching for thousands of missing people, including workers believed to be trapped in tunnels. Authorities say more than 1,300 people have died, while over 5,000 remain missing. International rescue teams are continuing efforts despite worsening conditions and severe infrastructure damage.
