Kidnappers Confess: We Killed 17-Year-Old JAMBite Over ₦200,000 Ransom
Two suspects, 21-year-old Tony Oghanetega and 23-year-old Elijah Emmanuel, were arrested by the Lagos Police Command after a missing-person report. They admitted luring 17-year-old Thomson Omokhafe Adams while he was returning from his JAMB exam and holding him for a ₦200,000 ransom. According to Oghanetega, the victim recognised one of the kidnappers and could identify them to his parents. They chained him, beat him with a nail-infested plank and cutlass, strangled him to death, then stuffed his body into a sack and dumped it in a remote bush. Police say the pair even carried music equipment to disguise their operation. The arrest followed credible intelligence at Ikorodu, and investigators have linked them to a previous November kidnapping. Charges are now being filed against both suspects.
