LASTMA Impounds 84 Vehicles in Lagos Crackdown on One-Way Driving and Illegal Garages
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has impounded 84 commercial and private vehicles during a weekend operation against one-way driving, illegal garages and other traffic violations. The exercise covered Idumota, Iddo, Ijora-Olopa, Costain and Onipanu. LASTMA said it was especially concerned about commercial buses reversing against traffic from Iddo to Idumota through Cater Bridge, a practice it said puts motorists, passengers and pedestrians at risk. The agency said some officers were attacked during the operation and that suspects were arrested for allegedly assaulting personnel and damaging operational vehicles. LASTMA warned against illegal parking, roadside loading, dangerous reversing and using under-bridge spaces or road setbacks as garages.
