Suspected Boko Haram Fighter Surrenders With Rifle, Ammunition in Borno
A 23-year-old suspected Boko Haram fighter has surrendered to troops in Borno State with an AK-47 rifle and 26 rounds of ammunition. The suspect, from Garere in Kukawa Local Government Area, surrendered on August 20 during a stop-and-search operation at the Kwatan Alkama checkpoint. Troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, one magazine and 26 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition. Military sources said he attributed his decision to sustained operations against terrorist groups in the Lake Chad area. He is in military custody for profiling and further investigation into his activities and possible links to other insurgents.
