Man Arrested After Raping 89-Year-Old Woman, Falls Asleep at Scene
A 29-year-old man has been detained after allegedly raping an 89-year-old woman in Nyavani village, Limpopo. Police say the suspect entered the victim’s room in the early hours of Sunday, April 26, when she was asleep. The woman told him she had no money, but he allegedly attacked her anyway. After the assault, the suspect reportedly fell asleep, allowing the victim to raise the alarm. Neighbours intervened and injured him before police took him under guard to hospital. Provincial Commissioner Thembi Hadebe commended the arrest and cautioned against mob justice. The suspect is due to appear before the Malamulele Magistrates Court soon.
