Tinubu’s Vacation Passes 21 Days Without Public Handover Notice

President Bola Tinubu’s working vacation, which began on 30 August, has passed 21 days. Section 145 of the Constitution requires a president proceeding on leave to transmit a written declaration to the National Assembly so the vice president can perform presidential functions. No such declaration has been publicly disclosed. Opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress, have questioned who is constitutionally in charge while Tinubu is away and Vice President Kashim Shettima leads Nigeria’s delegation to the UN General Assembly in New York. The Presidency says there is no leadership vacuum.
