8-Month-Old Baby Among Six Killed After UHBET Agents Cause Crash in Onitsha
Six people, including an 8-month-old baby, died in a road accident near Goodness and Mercy Motor Park on the Onitsha–Owerri Road. Eyewitnesses say a commercial Sienna bus driven by Unified Hybrid Enforcement Team (UHBET) revenue agents lost control after officers held onto the steering while chasing the driver. The speeding bus collided with a fully loaded tricycle, crushing all occupants. Angry youths later protested at the Okpoko Police Station, demanding justice and the arrest of the UHBET officials involved. As of this report, neither the state government, police command, nor UHBET has issued an official statement.
