FG Plans National Call Centre for Electricity Outage and Vandalism Reports
The Federal Government says it is working on a national call centre that will allow electricity consumers to report outages and vandalism of power infrastructure. Power Minister Joseph Tegbe announced the plan at the commissioning of a solar hybrid power project at Yakubu Gowon University in Abuja. The government has not yet given a launch date or released a phone number for the proposed service. Tegbe said reports made through the centre would be acted on promptly. He added that the Police, Civil Defence and EFCC are being deployed to tackle the vandalism of electricity assets. The event also marked the commissioning of a 3.3MWp solar array and 2MWh battery storage system expected to support classrooms, laboratories, digital services, campus security and 388 streetlights at the university.
