NEMA, Ondo Begin Flood Relief Distribution for Ilaje Communities
The National Emergency Management Agency and the Ondo State Emergency Management Agency have begun the first phase of flood relief distribution for affected residents in Ilaje Local Government Area. Officials said the supplies are intended to support families whose homes, livelihoods and daily activities were disrupted by seasonal flooding. They noted that the intervention cannot fully cover the losses suffered, but said further support is being planned. Residents were urged to keep drainage channels clear, dispose of waste properly and observe environmental sanitation measures as heavy rainfall continues. The state also said it plans channelisation and waterway-clearing work to reduce future flooding across Ilaje communities. A distribution committee involving traditional leaders, women, youth representatives and community groups will oversee the sharing of relief materials to ensure they reach affected households, including remote settlements.
