Police Question AIG Moshood Jimoh Over VeryDarkMan’s Corruption Allegations
The Nigeria Police Force says it has opened an internal administrative review into corruption allegations made by social media personality Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, against AIG Moshood Jimoh of Zone 2 Command, Lagos. Police said Jimoh has been invited for questioning, while Otse has also been asked to appear before the Force CID in Abuja to substantiate his claims. The Force noted that a related criminal case is already before a court and said it would not comment on issues that could prejudice the proceedings. Otte has alleged in a series of videos that officers who served under Jimoh in Lagos framed businessman Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi in connection with two killings in Eti-Osa. He claims earlier statements by suspects did not mention Akanbi and that later statements implicating him were obtained under pressure or torture. The police said any officer found culpable would face disciplinary action under the law. It also warned that unsubstantiated allegations intended to damage reputations could lead to legal action.
