Oil Professionals Demand Independent Probe of NNPC, NUPRC Over Transparency Allegations

Oil Professionals Demand Independent Probe of NNPC, NUPRC Over Transparency Allegations

Oil and gas professionals have asked the Federal Government to open an independent investigation into the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission over alleged transparency lapses. The group said concerns over oil production, licensing procedures, contract awards and regulatory oversight were weakening trust in the sector. It called for a review of marginal-field allocations and bid-round processes, saying national assets must be managed through clear criteria and equal access for qualified participants. The group also called for scrutiny of allegations involving NNPC chief Bayo Ojulari and NUPRC official Meyiwa Eyesan. The allegations have not been established by official findings. It urged the Presidency and relevant oversight bodies to examine the claims transparently and protect investor confidence in Nigeria’s oil industry.
