Donald Duke Warns Opposition Against Repeating 2023 Divisions Ahead of 2027

Former Cross River governor Donald Duke has urged opposition parties to unite ahead of the 2027 presidential election, warning that internal divisions could again weaken their chances. Speaking during a television interview, Duke said the votes won separately by Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso in 2023 showed what a united opposition could achieve. Duke, who recently moved from the ADC to the PRP, said opposition leaders should first agree on a clear direction for Nigeria before choosing a presidential candidate. He said he is more interested in being part of a team that can make the country work than pursuing the presidency for personal gain.
