Olawepo Alleges Lagos-Calabar Highway Funds Favour Tinubu-Linked Contractor
Former presidential candidate Gbenga Olawepo has alleged that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project is being used for financial misconduct. He made the claims during a podcast interview while criticising the Tinubu administration’s policies. Olawepo questioned the contract awarded to Hitech Construction Company, which is owned by the Chagoury Group. He alleged that a large share of government resources, after salary payments, was being directed to the contractor, which he described as linked to President Bola Tinubu. The presidency and the Ministry of Works have previously rejected allegations of wrongdoing. They have defended the project’s procurement process and Hitech’s role in delivering the highway.
