Five Arrested Near RAF Fairford Over Suspected Terror and Explosives Offences

Five men were arrested near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire on suspicion of terrorism and explosives-related offences. Police responded after a resident reported suspicious vans in Whelford. Bomb disposal teams were deployed and about 85 nearby households were evacuated while specialists examined the vehicles. The suspects were initially detained under explosives legislation before being arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. Investigations into the alleged plot and the suspects’ backgrounds are continuing.
