IPMAN Alleges Illegal Levies and Harassment of Filling Stations in Anambra
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has asked Governor Chukwuma Soludo to protect filling-station operators from alleged illegal levies and harassment by government agents in Anambra State. At its annual general meeting in Awka, the association said members pay a harmonised annual levy of ₦145,000 per outlet, covering property tax, business premises, local government and signage charges. It alleged that some agents still issue additional demand notices and take marketers to court. IPMAN said the rising cost of petroleum products and shrinking profit margins have made the business difficult. The group warned that marketers may suspend operations if the concerns are not addressed, while pledging to comply with all approved taxes and regulations.
