Tinubu Welcomes $12m Entrepreneurship Centre for Abuja and Northern MSMEs
President Bola Tinubu has welcomed the construction of a $12 million Abuja Centre for Entrepreneurship at the SMEDAN Industrial Development Centre in Idu. The project is funded by the Republic of Korea through KOICA and is being developed with SMEDAN and the United Nations Development Programme. It will provide workspaces, digital facilities, training, incubation and enterprise support for entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses. The centre initially aims to support 500 entrepreneurs, 400 start-ups and 1,500 MSMEs. It is expected to serve businesses in Abuja and nearby cities including Kaduna, Jos, Keffi, Lafia, Minna, Makurdi and Lokoja. The facility will include accessible features for persons with disabilities and crèche services for women with young children. Construction will receive about $5.9 million, while equipment and business-support programmes will receive $6.1 million.
